About Rob Harris

Hey y’all, I’m Rob Harris—proud Hokie, lifelong sports fanatic, and the voice behind Hokie Nation.

I was born in Bluefield, Virginia, raised on maroon and orange, and grew up yelling “BRUUUUCE!” from the stands. I only applied to one college (yep, THE Virginia Tech), and if you remember Bimbo Coles or Wally Lancaster, you may have seen me waving a “Welcome to WallyWorld” banner or getting the crowd fired up with my now-famous chant: “Ref’s on Crack!” (true story).

I was once the TV broadcast statistician for VT football… until I got fired for cheering too loudly during a big play. Passion before professionalism—I regret nothing.

After graduation, I moved to California with my roommate Bugeye and felt a huge Hokie void. Then one Saturday morning, while building a Bloody Mary at 9am waiting for the Hokie game to start, 12 Hokies walk into Sharkeez Bar. My tribe had arrived (OC Hokies).

That moment inspired me to start the Hokie Nation Facebook Page—a way to stay connected with fans just as passionate, just as loud, and just as homesick for Lane Stadium as I was. Today, that community lives on across multiple platforms, full of proud alumni, die-hard fans, and lifelong friends.

Hokie Nation isn’t just a page—it’s a movement.

And Inside Hokie Nation is our digital tailgate.
